2007 Topps Heritage SP's

I was digging through some boxes looking for a few Maddux cards for a trade, and I came across a handful of 2007 Topps Heritage short prints that I would love to trade to someone who is building the set.  If you need these, let me know.  If you know someone who needs these, let them know.

2007 Topps Heritage SP’s:

59 Kevin Millwood

158 Cleveland Indians

240 Jason Giambi

248 Adam WainWright

338 Todd Walker

393 Melky Cabrera

419 Scott Kazmir

447 Mark Redman

FYI, every now and then I will throw up a list of stuff that I have for trade hoping to find some takers.

And, The Play At The Plate, He's.....A Great Trade!

I just completed a trade with Brian over at Play At The Plate I sent him one lousy 2010 Topps 1951 Red back Chipper Jones, and he hooked me up with bunch of Orioles and Phillies for my team sets.  Chek 'em out:

Thanks again Brian, for hooking me up.  I do hope to trade again soon.

Joe Collector Box Break

I am running a bit behind on my blogging, so I will attempt to catch up in the next week or so.  I wanted to show off a very successful February Box Break care of I Am Joe Collector The break was for Topps Unique and Topps Heritage ( I have the Orioles in the break).  Last month it was T206 and I got lucky with a Koji Uehara Auto!  I got a ton of O's this month too!
I got the cards pictured above and a handful more from Topps Unique.  Now I only need #175 Nolan Reimold and #182 Koji Uehara to complete my Topps Unique team set.  I am unsure if I will try to make the red parallel team set yet.

These are a few of the Topps Heritage I got in the break.  I got every Heritage high # Oriole in the set in the break!  Now all I need to fill the entire Heritage team set is #448 and #455.  And if all of that was not enough...jackpot!
 e
An original. A Riemold and Uehara in the Chrome...and a Sizemore/Hamilton/MARKAKIS Triple from Unique!

Needless to say, I am happy with the break results.  If you have any of the cards I still need for these two team sets, let me know and I will be happy to make a trade!

I Ordered A Nacho Grande, And This Is What I Got

I love trading through the mail.  I get all giddy when I pull a bubble mailer or a box from my mailbox.  I have never really noticed, but I probably skip or frolic home from the mailbox (about 40 yards).  When I get something  in the mail that I bought, it is cool, but I already know exactly what I am getting.  When I get a trade in the mail it is awesome because a great trader will always throw something else in with the trade.  Something that he didn't tell you he was putting in.  Sometimes he may give you a hint, like "I'll see what else I have..." but he never really tells you.  The when you open the package, it is there in all of its cardboard glory!  And you know what makes TTM trading so great?  Even if there is nothing extra thrown in with the trade, you still just got free cards and all you had to do was mail some cards out that you probably will not notice are gone anyways!

That being said, I got a package in the mail yesterday from Chris over at Naco Grande.  In exchange for 175 Barry Larkin cards and about 10-15 2005 Greats of the Game insets, he sent me the following:

First of all there were a bunch of cards from my want lists for 2009 Topps, 2009 Topps Target, and some O's, Phils, Ravens, and even a Cowboy for some team sets I am working on.

The Jones is a Refractor, and the Aikman is actually a promo card.  It sure is too bad the O's could steal Howard a few years back when he was having contract issues with the Phillies...
First of all, I love Adam Jones,  The O's got him from the M's in a lopsided trade for Eric Bedard on my Sisters birthday in February of 2008.  He spent his first year in orange and black being good and his second year being great.  He improved in HR, RBI, AVG, H, R, 2B, BB, and SO....he also won a Gold Glove.  If he can win 15 more in a row, he can catch up to 'ol Brooksy!  And the then, the surprise card...A Goudey Graph of Lou Marson!  Lou was the top prospect in the Phillies minors until the Phils had to trade him to get some unknown pitcher from Cleveland named Cliff Lee.  Now, Marson is going into spring training as the Tribes starting catcher.  I am still big on him, so this is a great bonus card!

There were also some random O's and Phil's thrown in as well.

Great trade!  I am looking forward to trading with Chris over at Naco Grande again in the future!

Key Orioles Acquisitions This Past Weekend

This past weekend was not a bad one at all.  The President's Day Holiday allow for a trip to Chuck E Cheese, which I had been promising my son for weeks and I finally made good on it.

It also involved a trip to Arundel Mills Mall (which I HATE) for a birthday gift from the Disney store.  I just knew it was going to be a lousy trip to a mall with more plowed snow mountains filling the parking lot than spaces to park, with more rude and obnoxious shoppers who think you are in their way, and more factory outlet stores that have the same prices as every other store!

This trip was just a bit different than expected.  After driving around for about 30  minutes looking for a space, we finally parked at the entrance to Modells. We were making out way through the store to the mall entrance,and.. looky looky what I found!
Yes the price tag is correct!  So what if the year is a month and a half shorter than the calendar, it was a freakin buck!  When I got home, I happily pealed away the days until the date was current.

The next stop in the mall was a store called '5 Below' where you guessed it, everything is $5 or below!  I was just really thirsty and wanted to stop and get a Diet Coke  While standing in line  I looked down and saw something that I have been off buying for years.  This is mostly because I always seemed to have more important places to spend $20 than on a book, even if said book chronicled the best Orioles team of my lifetime.  Then I saw the price...TWO BUCKS!!!

Needless to say, I bought the soda, the book, and I was now in such a good mood, I even threw in some Pez for my son!

To be quite honest, the rest of the mall trip is just a blur.  I was so happy with my two awesome deals, my wife probably could have gotten away with dropping a fortune and I would not have even cared!!!

I am far better that the Washington Wizards GM

I am far better that the Washington Bullets Wizards GM.  Oh, it's true, Its damn true!  I know this for two reasons.  First, I never acquired Gilbert Arenas or any of his guns in my collection...the Bullets Wizards did.  And Second, I do not make pointless trades

I do however make awesome trades (or at least try to)!  I am currently working on trades with Beardy of mojo & beardy's fantastic card blog, playattheplatedude, dayf, Nacho Grande, Mr Weeks, and drewsbbcards (pending).

I love to trade.  If you think you might be interested in trading with me, email me (my address is in my profile), or post a comment.  I have huge want lists that I can send you (eventually I will attach them to my blog), or...the best way to my heart is Orioles, Phillies, Ravens, or Cowboys G/U's or autos.

Now....back to being better that the Bullets Wizards GM...

Olympics...Io sono il tifo per l'Italia (that means I am rooting for Italy)

Extenuating circumstances have kept me away from my blog for too long and I fear that I am too late to advertise a great contest for you to enter.  If that is the care (which I am pretty sure of), let me advertise it anyways.  JD's Wild Cardz. is hosting an great Olympic contest, check it out HERE.  Basically you are given a random country, and based on the medal count for your country, you get x number of entries into a fantastic prize drawing.  Check it out.

I got Italy, Io sono il tifo per l'Italia!!!  This triggered my curiosity about Italy and MLB.  After wasting about an hour at work yesterday, I found that there are about a billion Italians to have played in the Majors, but only 6 were actually Italian born.  There has actually not been an Italian born in the bigs since Reno Bertoia played for the Tigers in 1962.

So on to the National Italian American Sports Hall Of Fame where I found a ton of great athletes.  My favorite is former baseball player Buttercup Dickerson.  Who was the league leader in triples in 1879, but more importantly left the St. Louis Marrons in1884 for greener pastures in Baltimore with my beloved Orioles!

Anyhow...on to the Winter games Go Italy!!!

Saints Won, ESPN in tears....

Congratulations to the Saints and their fans for a huge Superbowl win last night!  I was rooting for them,  but really wasn't so sure that they would win.  They really found a way to contain Manning in the second half...Don't give him the ball!  And then when Manning did get the ball in the 4th quarter the Saints D really tightened up.

Let me get one thing straight I am a Cowboys fan first and a Ravens fan second.  I do not hate the Colts, and never have (I do hate the Ursay family, especially the scumbag Bob).  I think that Manning is arguably the best QB our this generation, and maybe ever, but he is a very poor sport and needs to grow up a little.  Nobody likes to lose, and Peyton needs to handle it like a big boy.

I almost feel sorry for ESPN because, first, their second favorite football player had his pants pulled down by the Ravens on national television (Brady), then their favorite football player got beat and beat up by the Saints (Favre), and then their third favorite football player got beat in the SB by the Saints (Manning).  And on top of all that, yesterday Ovechkin and the Capitals beat ESPN's favorite hockey player (and cowardly cherry-picker) Sidney Crosby!

As sad a day as it was for ESPN, don't you worry about them.  They will never stop loving Favre (or talking about him), and now that pitchers and catchers are reporting to camp in a few days, ESPN will be able to resume covering only the Yankees and Red Sox.

Sportscenter was such an awesome show in the '90's...Now it is just the Kobe, Peyton, Favre, Brady, Crosby, Yankees, and Red Sox Show.

Snow, snow, and more snow!

30 inches of snow have kept me busy.  I shoveled out once car yesterday, put all of the snow right in the street!  Then the plow came by...now I have to shovel out the other car, but there is no place to put the snow.  I will have to carry each shovel full about 20 feet to the closest non-road area.  That sucks!  So what better way to put off shoveling than a blog entry.

I have 4 pics to share today:
First is  a nice card of Jimmy-Jim-Jim.  this 2003 Fleer Rookies and Greats card is 361/615, so it is not exactly the rarest, But I love O's G/U's that have orange cuts in them!
This is a 2006 Prestige card with no s/n.  I got it for a song and a dance on ebay,  I guess that is because I was the only potential buy who did not notice the obvious discoloration on the bottom left corner.  Its cool though, I am a McNair fan, he was just an all around tough guy in the pocket.

Right up there with Bill Bates, Emmitt Smith, Ed Reed, and Derrick Mason, This guy is one of my all time favorites.  He is as tough as they come, as smart as they come, and as intense as they come.  This 2005 Leaf Rookies and Stars Longevity is 22/25.

And finally, This 2003 Donruss Pokey Reese (commonly used as a bookmark) is braving the weather and getting ready to help me clean off my Civic.

Bip this! Bip that! Bip you!

Amongst all of this Bipping going on out there I want to make a plea...do not Bip with your Pokeys.  For some reason in 2000 I started using Pokey Reese cards as bookmarks...dunno why.  This is not an invitation to Bip me with your Pokeys...that just would not be very original after this post.  But, if you want to work out a trade let me know (for cards other than Pokey Reese).

In summary, bookmark Pokey, don't Bip him!

REALLY?!?!?!?!

No, Really?!?!?!?

Not to steal a bit for SNL, but the following all just made me ask the question, "Really?"

-In viewing the Orioles Schedule for the upcoming 2010 season, I notice something that seemed odd, so I took out my trusty pen and pad and started taking numbers down.  When all of the smoke cleared, I have discovered that the Orioles will open the season by playing 21 of the first 28 games this season against the AL East.  Of those 21 games 6 are vs. the Yankees, 6 vs. the BoSox, 6 vs. the Rays, and 3 vs. the Jays.  The fan boy in me says "Awesome!  The O's will be in first place!"  The pessimist  in me prays that the Birds wont be out of the race by Cinco De Mayo!...but that would give me a reason to drink.

-The other day I got an email form Tuff Stuff trying to sell me some books.  I get these solicitations from them  about once a week or so.  When I read this message and saw the embedded image, I couldn't believe my eyes.  Tuff Stuff is pimping Beckett products!

That is like Coke putting Pepsi in its machines, or Nike putting Reebok in their boxes.  It's just crazy!  Is business so bad that in order to make money you need to sell your biggest competitor's products?

-And finally, in March or April they will blow up (implore really) the former Dallas Cowboy home of 37 years.  Apparently, the demolition of the Texas Stadium will be triggered by an essay contest winner, a child.  That part is ok.  What is crazy, is that the contest winner will be chosen by the official Texas Stadium demolition sponsor, Kraft Foods!  It gets better...the sponsorship is part of Krafts "Cheddar Explosion" campaign promoting their macaroni and cheese. http://kraft.promotions.com/mncexplosion/splash.do
And the funny thing is, none of the articles I have read about this implicate Jerry Jones at all! Cooperate sponsorship for a stadiums demolition, you gotta be kidding me, could you imagine if somehow things went wrong, and Dallas got covered in Mac and Cheese?!?!?
