Better Than The Orioles?....Can That Even Be Possible?

The Orioles have the greatest in the bigs...not team, not player, for sure not the owner...I am talking about Ball park!  Camden Yards is an awesome place to catch a game.  they have a new state of the art Audio system.  An HD digital production system that tops them all.  A groundskeeper with her own bobble head.  An  Irrigation System  that is sited in all kinds of publications.

It's too bad it sucks to go there anymore.  I realize this after having taken my wife and the boy to the Nats game on May 22.  A great ball park just doesn't do it anymore, especially when the team plying there has SUCKED for 13 years.  The birds have to do something to make it fun to go to the ball bark and watch your team get slaughtered.  They have a 3 card monte thing they do on the scoreboard where you have to find which crab has the ball...and that's about it for fun.  Credit Peter Angelos fro killing the club and the park they play in.

The Nats are not a bad team, and their park is nice.  But what they do in their park makes it great.  The presidents are fun, the food selection is great, the life size bobble head are cool, Screech is just as fun as any other mascot.  I could go on and on and on.  The Nats ballpark is a major league park with a minor league feel.  I wish it still felt like fun to go to Camden Yards.

Go to a ball game in DC, and you will see what I mean.

I Am Back In The Starting Rotation

Hey there sportsfans, It seems like every time I post something new on my blog, I am giving excuses on why it has been so long since my last.  Well...new day job, old night job, T-ball, a 5 year old, and actually going to MLB games have consumed my time.  Add in trying to catch up on all of the shows on my dvr, and time has been slim.

Well I am here to say that I am putting myself back in the starting rotation, meaning you should be seeing me about once every five days.

On the trade front things are a bit quiet.  I have a few trades that have been on the table for a while that I will get up and going again in the next week.  I got some cards in the mail from The Real DFG mostly base O's to try to help me fill in my team sets (all of my want lists are here).  I  need to get to the post office to get his cards out to him and I owe Captain Canuk some cards to for helping me find another blogger.

I do have a lot on my mind, so I will make the time will.

A Wicked Trade!

I recently sent The Wicked Ortega some cards and told him just put together a few O's or Phillies, and get me back whenever.  He did not disappoint!  He sent me some Phils nd O's, most of which I needed for team sets.  He also sent me these two cards

Thank you very much!  It looks like we may be on our way to starting another trade as you are reading this.  Maybe Mr. Ortega will be the one to put a Tony Gwynn G/U with a piece of  a brown jersey in my hands.

Also a few posts ago I showed the cards that Pops sent me.  Well I left out two.  I want to give the credit to him, so here they are:
A 2003 uncirculated Don Larson auto...As an ORIOLE!!! And a 2007 SP Legendary Cuts Lasting Legends 2-color Brooksy 17/43.  On the back of the card, UD describes it as a "Game-Used Jersey Patch Card,"  Is it a jersey or a patch????  Feels like a jersey to me.  No matter, I love me some Brooksy!

The Mailman Has Been Good To Me!

Without further delay, here is a bit of what my mailman has brought me in the last two weeks...
My first Ryan Zimmerman Relic

Too Bad the Tejada has a surface crease on it.  Oh well, it is for my personal collection so it is not too big a deal to me.

Ozzie is a damn fine GM! 58/250

The worst scan ever, but the card is great, 2006 TOTT jersey and 2 color helmet.  The back of the card authenticates bot \h pieces as having been worn in an official NFL game, not the vanilla event worn description where the word "Event" has never actually been defined!?!

I am not a Flames fan, but McDonald was a pretty fine player, and I got this card for under $5 shipped

By now you know that Derrick Mason is one of my all time favorite players...Don't you?

Another Mason Patch.n
...and finally, a dual Dirk!

Thanks Pop!

First of all, I would not feel right if I didn't mention The passing of Robin Roberts.  He was my fathers favorite player when he was growing up.  I will never forget back in 1992 when my dad and I were at the MLB All Star Fanfest and he got to meet Roberts for the first time.  Were were in line waiting to get autographs, and just when we were about fourth from the front, they announced that the athletes were going to rotate out and four new signers would come in about five minutes.  I was so excited that the five minutes seemed more like five seconds!  Of the four new signers that came out I can only remember two right now.  A man who looked to be about 95 cam out, he was Leon Day of the 1934 Baltimore Black Sox.  Sadly he died of heart attack at age 78, only 6 days after learning of his election into Cooperstown.  The other player I remember was Robin Roberts.  When my father got Roberts' auto, he was absolutely glowing, As happy as I have ever seen him.  Every now and then My father and I still talk about that day.

Oh, and just in case you didn't know, Roberts won 20 games in six consecutive seasons and threw 305 complete games amongst a ton of impressive lines on his resume.

Speaking of My father...Pops hit up a Florida card show a few weeks back and as usual picked up some goodies for me.  I got the package yesterday, and was quite pleased with what was inside.  Besides having quite a bit of Orioles I need for my team sets, he got me these G/U's...
