Trip to the Card Store

I had to get a filling yesterday, so to reward myself for putting up with the misery involved with a trip to the dentist, I stopped by the card shop on the way home. I actually did need to get some screw cases, so the stop did have purpose. I have two card shops near me (I am very lucky for that). Unfortunately, the shops that was on my way home was the expensive one, about a buck more expensive per pack.

So, I got my cases, but even at a buck a pack more expensive, I couldn't leave without getting a few packs. I picked up two FB and two BB...and got crap. If you see anything below that you wantm, let me know:

In Love With Blasters

Ok, so I have heard a lot of people complaining about the 2009 Topps retail gimmick with Walmart and Target. Personally, I think it is sort of cool. I am a set builder, so it does make me have to mnake some descisions though. I cannot afford to make 3 of the same set. Here is what I have come up with. I will make My team sets (Orioles and Phillies) in all three (Walmart black, Target throwback, and Topps base). I will make the set from The regular Topps Base, and the Target throwback version.

I have bought blaster boxes from Toys R Us and Kmart too...Thankfully, they are regular old Topps cards.

The absolute best part of the blaster boxes is the patch card included in each one. I still have not got a Ripken, and until I do, this is my favorite so far:

I Am Ashamed...Please Unmask Me!!!

OK, I don't know who this guy is, but he has got it right. I have been a O's fan since my dad took me to my first game when I was 4. Cal Ripken, Eddie Murray, Rick Dempsey, Surhoff, Weaver, Singleton, they were all were heroes of mine. What a great franchise we used to be.

Then, after Angelos got then team, somehow we went farther south than spring training! I am not pointing any fingers at Angelos, but...well, yeah, I am. He ruined my team. He ruined a perennial contender. And worst of all, he ruined "The Oriole Way!"

Now, I still bleed orange. I still go to Camden Yards and Join the Bird in spelling O-R-I-O-L-E-S. I am still that fanboy who at the onset of every season, really truely convinces hiself "They have a chance this season." But now, I am finally tired of the franchise calling us the #1 fans in baseball, but treating us like #2.

Give me back a winner! Give me back the post season! Give me back "The Oriole Way!" And please give me back my pride in Baltimore baseball.

So my plea to Angelos, Trembly and McPhail...Please Unmask me!!! Let me show the worl that I am proud to be a baseball fan. I do not need a World Series, I just want a winner again.

..and, you know, what is really sad, is that even if the O's lose 100 games, I will be back next year...Like i said, I bleed orange.

It Begins...

Hello, and welcome to the Fields of Green! This is my personal blog to express my feelings about card collecting and sports (primarily Football and Baseball).

I am a fan of the Orioles, Phillies, Cowboys, and Ravens. Though hate is a strong word, that is the only way I can describe how I feel about the Yankees and Redskins..oh, and Bud Selig too.

I hope to post frequently, but how frequently will be dictated by my work and family schedule.
