Today is a sad day for Baltimore baseball. Baltimore's "other" iron man, Ernie Tyler, passed away last night at the age of 86. Ernie was Baltimore's Umpire Attendant since 1960, and has worked for the Orioles since their first season in 1954. Ernie worked 3,819 consecutive home games at Memorial Stadium and Camden Yards. He only broke his streak at Cal Ripken's request that he come to Cal's HOF induction.
Please read the short article about Ernie's Days with the O's.
On a happier note, a contest is coming soon..."WHY NOT"
RIP Ernie, Baltimore will miss you.
